Welcome! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and introduce myself to you. My name is Joshua Chohaan. I take pride in my education as a former graduate student from Long Island University. I have a Master’s of Science in Adolescence Education. I also have a second Master’s of Science in Literacy. I am pleased to be a part of the Yuba City Charter School this school year. I am very passionate about teaching and look forward to teaching first grade. Previously, I have served as a kindergarten teacher at a school for gifted students where I taught the kindergarten, first grade and second grade curriculum. I also in the past have served as a substitute teacher at various different school districts. In addition, in recent years I have worked closely with children in many diverse environments. I have worked 10 years tutoring children in various academic subjects, such as, social studies, English, science, Spanish and mathematics. Furthermore, I have assisted children by aiding them in developing good study skills and habits.
First grade is truly intended to be a rewarding and enjoyable journey of learning that will allow your child to learn, grow and flourish as an individual. However, before embarking on any journey there are certain guidelines that should be kept in mind. There are certain classroom rules and expectations that my students are expected to adhere to. These expectations will allow students to be in a safe environment that promotes learning. I am sure as a parent you will be supportive of this mutual goal of making sure that students display good classroom behavior. In addition, students are expected to complete their homework on time each day so that they can ultimately succeed academically. As parents you can also assist your child by making sure they are completing all of their assignments and homework on time each day.
I think it is crucial that parents be involved in their child’s academic lives because they can help ensure that their child’s various cognitive, social and personal needs are met. Therefore, I believe it is important that we form a partnership so that we will be better able to ensure the well being and overall success of your child. If you have any questions regarding your child then please feel more than free to contact me so that together we can develop a solution. You can also call the school at: (530) 822-9667 if you would like to reach me. I consider it a great honor and privilege to have your child in my class. I am truly looking forward to working with both you and your child this year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Chohaan
