Welcome!
My name is Carolyn Roberts. I have been happily married for 26+ years, and we have five children. Our first two daughters have married and we still have two daughters and a son living at home. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from Hope International University in 2005, and a teaching credential from Chapman/Brandman University in 2007. I had been a substitute teacher since 2004, so I have been in many classrooms from one day and up to three months as a long-term substitute. I also have one year of experience teaching 2nd grade and three years of experience as a substitute and long-term substitute teaching at Gray Avenue Middle School teaching English, Science, and Math, including Algebra.
I am honored to be the 7th/8th grade teacher at Yuba City Charter School. In the 1800's Louis Pasteur said, "Chance favors the prepared mind." My goal is to provide ample chance for my students to prepare their minds for the challenges they face. My aide, Mrs. Grob, and I strive to keep expectations high and offer generous doses of encouragement. 7th and 8th grade curriculums are critical for foundational learning and acquiring good study skills for high school and beyond.
As with any classroom, we have expectations for students to:
*Maintain a quiet classroom learning environment
*Complete four goals per day...more than four is even better
*Goals not finished in class are automatically assigned for homework
*Respect toward self, teachers, and peers
*Think BIG
I think it is beneficial that parents be involved in their child's academic life to ensure their progress and success. It is important for us to work togehter to enable your child to do his or her best. I accept any classroom assistance from any parent who would like to be a catalyst for progress in these students' lives.
